LARK SPARROW

SONG

FIELD IDENTIFICATION: Lark Sparrows are a summer resident in Wise County, and are also occasionally observed in the winter.  They are one of our most distinctive sparrows, with bold rufous and black markings on the face.  There is a smudgy black spot on the otherwise clean gray breast.  White corners on the tail feathers are usually visible in flight.
