SNOWY EGRET

20"

FIELD IDENTIFICATION: The elegant Snowy Egret is a slightly smaller wader than the similar Great Egret.  The adult has a comparatively less-massive bill than the Great Egret.  The beak on the Snowy Egret is black, with yellow lores.  The legs are black with yellow feet, sometimes called "golden slippers".  In breeding plumage the egret has lacey plumes extending from the head and back.
