Common Looper, Autographa precationis

I found this fellow on laying right out in the open by the verbena plants in a big pot.  It is wrapped in a verbena leaf, and there's only one or two other plants in the pot, so I suppose verbena might be what it ate.  I put it on some potting soil in a plastic jar (with the lid just loosely closed) in the garage.  See below for what came out!  (I'm sure glad it didn't take until next year to emerge.  Instant gratification!)
